‘The Cave in The Mind’ is a work concentrated around the drill core archive of the Royal Belgian Institute of Natural Sciences in Brussels. Here a location is approached as a readymade. Multiple conceptions of time are embedded inside this objects (being lines) and the variable ways in which they are organised in space. As an image it touches on various metaphors. The focus lies on the place as an image of thought; there is no whole, there are only connections. The work mirrors the unity. In the residue of a physical act the mental act comes to the surface. In an unedited photographic archive of 1193 images the plain activity of deviation is being shown; an open diagram, before composition.
