Mirrors

series of handmade mirrors
ø 42 cm
2012

This series of handmade mirrors are in the first place a meditation on deeper understanding an object, as through the process of making you gain a different insight into its logic. Like the eye, the mirror needs two parallel surfaces, translucent and opaque, to mediate the transfer. As such, depth is always embedded.

In the installation Raum und Bild the object is laid horizontally on a pedestal. Here the cylinder vertically extends in space and visually penetrates and divides it. In cross-reference to bore cores often used in the work it sets a self-produced image of drilling. This work marks out a detail present in all installations, where the mediating parts are mostly self-produced.
As such, the syntax of the medium and the movement within become part of the larger discourse in the work.
